The Timbers’ exhibition soccer game against the Boca Juniors Saturday has taken on a greater urgency.
The struggling Timbers, winless in the month of May, are lacking chemistry and cohesion and a shake-up could be coming if the team’s fortunes don’t change soon. [more]

Getting all kinds of Friendly – Club Deportivo Atlas by paulsepp at Dropping Timber
The Timbers made another friendly announcement today, Club Deportivo Atlas of Guadalajara, Mexico – one of Portland’s sister cities, will play the Timbers Sunday July 11th at PGE Park. Some of the proceeds from this match will fund the construction of a sustainable education based center in Guadalajara.
The front office has already lined up matches with a Costa Rican club, Argentinian club, and an English side. There is also rumor that they are in the works on a fifth friendly to top it it off. [more]

Concluding his search for the next Michael Essien-like player during his weeklong scouting trip to Ghana Monday, Timbers coach Gavin Wilkinson said he was pleased with his journey to the coastal country in West Africa.
“It was a fantastic trip,” Wilkinson said by telephone from Ghana Monday. “I saw some completely different types of players and some exciting ones, too.” [more]
