Halloween is not one of favorite holidays.
For one thing I’m an introvert, so generally I don’t like to draw attention to myself. For another, I suck at coming up with good costumes. By way of example, take a gander at the photo to the right, taken a few years ago at one of the rare Halloween parties at which I’ve made an appearance (I’m not sure what was smeared on the camera lens). I’m dressed as a . . . Mormon missionary (not shown in the photo is my backpack, Book of Mormon, and bicycle helmet).
So yeah, I suck at Halloween.
But some people love Halloween, and at Dave Knows Portland we aim to please. So below I have assembled a handful of events and resources for Halloween events in Portland (I’ll update the list throughout the week as more appear):

What’s wrong with that costume? I think it was a great idea!

Victory Lane – Thanks for the compliment! It’s the *only* decent Halloween costume idea I’ve had in years though 🙁

I like that costume!

Oh, and I totally agree that Halloween is daunting. Chris and I were just having this conversation yesterday, how Halloween seems to take such a huge amount of commitment that in often ends up seeming like all or nothing choice: an awesome, amazing costume to be worn at an awesome, amazing party or blowing it off, or, as I’ve so often done, blowing the whole thing off, staying home, watching movies, and eating disgusting amounts of candy. Halloween and New Year’s Eve are the holidays when it seems everyone wants to be able to say they were somewhere epic and cool, so much so that many of us don’t participate at all.

Yeah. Take the syntax of the above post with a grain of salt, please. Thanks.

That lens blur is dreamy.
