Portland Timbers News is hard to come by this week, so bear with me.
Gameday Merchandising will be the retail vendor operator at the stadium soon to be formerly known as PGE Park.
Joe O’Neil writes at the Bleacher Report on why he doesn’t watch MLS. His reason is Brian Dunseth, who I guess is a Fox Soccer Channel commentator? I wouldn’t know because I too don’t watch MLS – what soccer fan has time with all the higher quality leagues around the world? But both Joe O’Neil and I are Portland Timbers season-ticket holders, so we will watch MLS soccer next year. Fortunately at the live event, and at sports bars, you can’t hear the commentators.
107st members [you are one aren’t you?!] received a notice Monday to renew their memberships before Midnight, December 31st 2010. If you’re not yet a member, join now! 107ist is a member-based organization open to anyone who loves soccer, the Timbers, Portland, and, especially, the combination of the three. Members receive special Timbers Army/107st merchandise, pre-sale access to transportation to road games, special members-only events, and lots more. Plus your dues help support the 107ist charitable contributions.
The 2011 107ist board elections are almost here too – if you think you have what it takes to run for office, visit the election page to find out how.
And finally, recently retired (unfortunately due to post-concussion syndrome) MLS player Taylor Twellman has some kind words about the Pacific Northwest:
I really wanted that chance to play in the Pacific Northwest (against the expansion Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps) and see the rivalries being formed there. It is the beginning of something truly, truly special.
