Closed for much of January for annual maintenance and post-holiday exhibit cleanup, the Pittock Mansion re-opens February 1, 2011 with a new display: Beaded Purses – Finishing Touch.
More than a means to carry personal items, purses express the tastes and personalities of their owners. During the late 19th and 20th centuries, elaborately beaded purses were especially popular. View more than 50 vintage beaded and mesh purses, loaned to Pittock Mansion by a local collector.
The museum is open 11am to 4pm daily and admission is free for members, $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (65+), $5 for youth (ages 6 – 18), and free for children ages 5 and younger.
