Portland TimbersThe Portland Timbers host Toronto FC at Jeld-Wen Field on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 8pm. And Dave Knows is giving away a pair of tickets to the match!

The seats are in section 117 – not the Timbers Army section mind you – but rather in the west stands with a great view of the field. Two All Zone All Day TriMet bus tickets are included!

To Enter: Who is your favorite 2011 Portland Timbers player? Leave a comment below with your answer.

The Winner: The winner will be selected in a random drawing of all valid entries* on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 5pm.

*The Timbers player you select does not have to be on the currently active roster, but must be on or have been on the roster this season (so Adam Moffat and Ryan Pore, for example, are valid entries).

A valid email address must be provided in the appropriate field below so that I can contact you if you win. You do not, however, have to give a real name, and you can leave the Website field blank. I will not use the email address for anything except contacting the winner. The winner will be contacted by email and ticket delivery arrangements must be made before noon on Wednesday, July 27, or the tickets will be given to someone else – so make sure to check your email!

One entry per person please!

Don’t fret if your comment does not show up immediately – for various reasons some comments go into moderation, but I will attempt to approve them promptly!

Darlington Nagbe is my favorite Timbers player.

Bright Dike, obviously. In a city like Portland, who wouldn’t love a name like that?

    Steve Purdy

Darlington Nagbe, because of the sick goal he scored against K.C….

Tough call. I’d have to say Gleeson. He stepped it up when he was needed, and is a Timbers prodigy, coming up through the U-23s.

Futty is a close second, though. (For very similar reasons.)

Captain Jack Jewsbury. Consistent, reliable, and has a wicked distance shot.

Captain Jack: when of our most reliable performers. Without his assists and goals, well we would be a lot worse off!

Bright Dike. He’s a beast and will flatten defenders…

  11. Cedric says

Troy Perkins. The man can deal with the pressure.

Jack Jewsbury. Imagine what the Timbers would look like without him…

This is extremely difficult, but I have to go with captain Jack.

It varies a little….but for RIGHT now…Mr. “Good Hands” Perkins. I’m still agog over his masterful performance at Chicago! He’s gettin’ a poster for that!

  17. Caroline says

Kalif Alhassan. Most exciting to watch along with Nagbe and he doesn’t have any votes!

  18. Althea says

Troy Perkins. I choose our keeper because he is a consistently great player. I’m frequently astonished by the quality of that man’s saves.

Chara has really shown some great growth this season, I have been super impressed with his end line to end line play in the last few games.

Kalif Alhassan. How can you not love a guy that will beat two players, take off for goal, then trip over his own feet? Definitely the best representative of our team.

  21. Matt says

    July 26, 2011 at 8:16 am

Has to be Sal Zizzo. No Timber brings more energy to the game than Sal.

I’ve been a really huge fan of what I’ve seen from Troy Perkins! He’s been the lone bright spot in a really really bad area of the team and watching him make incredible save after incredible save after our defense breaks down is great.

  23. Andrew says

    Kalif Alhassan!

  24. Phil says

Jack Jewsbury…he is just smooth out on the pitch and delivers a great ball. Plus he seems like such a quality guy off the pitch too.

    Darlington Nagbe, the young gun

  26. Matt says

    July 26, 2011 at 10:40 am

Captain Jack Jewsbury, without a doubt. He’s been consistent, great from distance and knows where to get the ball so his teammates have a good shot at a goal.

  27. Scot says

    July 26, 2011 at 12:25 pm

Troy Perkins! Without him, we’d be sitting with Vancouver at the absolute bottom of the table.

  28. Rory says

    Bright dike!

Captain Jack! He has pinpoint accuracy. He’s team first. He was still very disappointed after he got selected for the All-Star team because it was the same day we lost to Seattle. He is humble. And represents Portland very well.
