The second 2011 installment of Portland Parks and Recreation movies in the park kicked off a couple weeks ago, but now things really kick in – with a movie every night this weekend!

Friday, July 8: Imagine That at Dickinson Park
Saturday, July 9: The Karate Kid (2010) at Brooklyn Park
Sunday, July 10: Shrek Forever After at Wilshire Park.

The 9th Annual Bastille Day Festival takes place Saturday, July 9, 2011, from noon until 8pm at Jamison Square Park in the Pearl District. Admission is free.

Portland TimbersPortland Timbers vs Seattle Flounders

The Portland Timbers (5-8-3) host the Seattle Sounders (8-4-8) for the first time ever in MLS league play on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Jeld-Wen Field. Kickoff is at 1pm.

Portland TimbersThe Portland Timbers host Club América in a friendly tonight at Jeld-Wen Field. Kickoff is at 8pm.

Expect a great atmosphere tonight, as we’ve experienced in previous visits by Club América to Portland (the Clásico de Clásicos de leyendas in 2007 and the Club America Reserves friendly in 2009).

Match will be shown live at www.portlandtimbers.com, or listen on 750 AM The Game or La Pantera 940 AM.

Portland TimbersThe Portland Timbers (5-6-2) meet Sporting Kansas City (4-6-5) for the first time ever on Saturday at Jeld-Wen Field. Kickoff is at 8pm.

The Timbers have been struggling to play consistently and are coming off their worst loss of the season last week in Dallas. Kansas City, though near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standing, are in fine form lately, undefeated in the last 7 regular season matches (and last 9 including U.S. Open Cup matches).

Fireworks!4th of July Fireworks in Portland

There will be several fireworks shows in the Portland area on Monday, July 4th 2011. All of the shows listed below can be viewed from the sponsoring event venues, or the surrounding area – I suggest finding a tall building or nearby hill for the best viewing!

Match Day (19-June-2011): Portland Timbers vs. New York Red Bulls

Portland TimbersThe Portland Timbers (5-6-2) aim once again to regain form at home as the New York Red Bulls (5-2-7) visit Jeld-Wen field for their first time tonight – kick off is at 7pm.

New York leads the league in goals scored (24), lead by French superstar Thierry Henry with 7 in 11 games played. The Timbers have lost the last three matches, but played well last week (unfortunately losing the match in stoppage time).
