Wine Wednesdays at Hotel Vintage Plaza

April 5, 2010 by Dave Knows Leave a Comment

(Almost) every Wednesday the Hotel Vintage Plaza (422 SW Broadway) hosts a “Wine Wednesday” wine tasting. A winery representative conducts the tasting and gives a wine education presentation. Appetizers are provided, usually by the adjacent Pazzo Ristorante. It begins at 6pm (which is conveniently when Pazzo’s happy hour ends).

The cost is only $15 and it’s open to the general public (as well as hotel guests of course). Reservations are recommended; you can call the hotel at 503 228 1212.

Portland Timbers Roundup (04/02/10)

Timbers

The Offside Timbers blog has been revived! Mao, of Mao’s Football (and @maofootball on twitter), has taken over for Bob Kellet (who is now writing again at The Woodwork).

Mao’s first two posts cover the pre-season:

Timbers Wrapping Up Pre-Season by mao at Timbers at The Offside

With April now just a single day away, the Portland Timbers find themselves with less than three weeks before their 2010 season opener against Rochester Rhinos on April 17. The Timbers have had a very successful offseason and pre-season to date with new player signings, friendlies and training camps. Lots of good work has gone into Portland’s last season in America’s second division and all signs are pointing to another strong season in the Rose City. [More]

Weekend in Bremerton by mao at Timbers at The Offside

A weekend in Bremerton, Washington is not most people’s idea of a good time. But the Portland Timbers are spending the latter part of this week and weekend across the Sound from Seattle as training camp continues. The highlight of the wee trip to the north is a friendly on Saturday at Memorial Stadium between the Timbers and Kitsap Pumas. [More]

Great news on this year’s NASL/USL, aka USSF D-II, broadcast availability:

All USSF D-II Matches Will Be Available Online, TV & Website News at NASL News

Good news for fans of 2nd Division soccer in the United States. Every USSD2 match will be available via online stream for free. The system will be similar to USLLive.com last season and will controlled by the US Soccer Federation. An announcement is expected next week as the USSF is currently working to finalize a media partner and to secure advertisers to help offset cost. [More]

And some nice coverage for the Timbers Army!

The team, the town, and the Timbers’ Army by Suzy Vitello Soulé at GoodnessPortland.com

Are they out yet? The scarf-snapping rowdies who swarm PGE Park during the fairer months? In the same way that blooming rhododendrons and azaleas harken the onslaught of spring in Portland, the chanting, swaggering, jolly bustle of Timbers’ fans peppering Goose Hollow with tailgate parties are a signal of every PGE-based match from April to October. There was more Timbers news this week than could be contained in a single post – be sure to also check out the Tuesday Timbers Tidbits (03/30/2010) for even more Timbers news.

World Party DaySATURDAY

Some sort of religious holiday occurs this weekend, but the big holiday is Saturday’s World Party Day: the annual celebration of globally synchronized events for a happy world.

World Party Day! Seriously!

I should say that’s plenty of stuff to do this weekend, but if you’re looking for more, the usual suspects have your back: Around the Sun, Blogging Portland on the Cheap, and PDX Pipeline!
