Tulip Fest 2012 at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn kicks off Friday, March 30 and runs through Monday, April 30.

And on weekends you get all that, plus pony rides, a crafters market, Mexican food, wooden shoe making demonstrations, steam tractors, entertainment, and beer and wine! [more]

All Weekend

Faux Film Festival 2012Faux Film Festival 2012

The 8th Annual Faux Film Festival takes place March 30 through April 1 2012 at the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton).

But what the hell is a faux film festival?

It’s a festival of mockumentaries, fake commercials, fake public service announcements, fake film trailers, fake training videos, fake travelogues, etc. – you get the idea. [more]

Match Day: Portland Timbers vs. Philadelphia Union (12-March-2012)

March 12, 2012 by Dave Knows Leave a Comment

Portland TimbersThe Portland Timbers start the 2012 season at home, hosting the Philadelphia Union in the season debut for both teams tonight at Jeld-Wen Field.

The match will be broadcast live at 6:30 p.m. (kickoff is actually at 6:55 p.m.) on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, 750 AM The Game, and La Pantera 940 AM.

The Union made the playoffs in 2011, finishing third in the Eastern Conference, and ultimately bowing out to the Houston Dynamo in the semifinals. Portland, as you no doubt remember, came up just short of making the playoffs, but had a good showing at home through much of the season. Last May the Timbers defeated the Union 1-0 in Portland, drawing at Philadelphia 0-0. Tonight’s match will be only regular season meeting of these two teams this season.

I’ll be at the game, dressed very warmly and water resistant. It just wouldn’t be a Portland Timbers home opener without cold pouring rain!
