The Launch of CASCADIA.FM

October 10, 2010 by Dave Knows Leave a Comment

Cascadia.FMThe groundbreaking PDX.fm internet radio network is no more, but that’s not bad news. CASCADIA.fm is here, starting Monday, October 11 2010.

Now, maybe you didn’t get the memo – probably because we didn’t send one out (we’d rather be working on making good Internet radio than writing stupid memos), but if you want to know why we changed, what’s different, or how it affects everyone involved, we suggest that you listen to the Friday, October 8th episode of Suck It™ – all will become clear.

You really should listen to that broadcast, but here’s the thumbnail: Robert and Sabrina thank the listeners and explain that in all likelihood your favorite show is still on the air. The difference is that the station, and audience is growing. Cascadia.fm bills itself as The Next Generation of Independent, Talk Radio and has expanded its reach to Seattle, Vancouver B.C. and beyond. A Cascadia.fm application is forthcoming, which will make listening to and interacting with the show hosts easier, and in May 2011 Cascadia.tv will launch.

The most popular shows, like iPhoneSlutz, continue on the air at CASCADIA.FM. Suck It™, Unibash Radio, Cort and Fatboy, Legion of News, Don’t Panic Portland, and Exceptional Women NW continue as daily programs. The Life Portlandic is now The Life Cascadia, and a new weekly show, Evening Submission, kicks off Friday, October 15 2010 at 8pm. The full broadcast schedule is up at Cascadia.fm.

Portland Sucks Returns!

August 10, 2010 by Dave Knows 1 Comment

Portland SucksMonday, August 9th marked the return of Portland Sucks, your daily dose of rants and immature and quasi-clueless observations from Robert Wagner.

The final broadcast of the original Portland Sucks was on Friday, May 7th, 2010.

Live from the crystal meth strip club capital of the Pacific Northwest, the subject of the first new episode‘s ranting is The Bite of Oregon, one of the more disappointing annual Portland festivals. Robert also regales us with the story of witnessing his first citizen’s arrest, and a heaping helping of self-congrats for making the return back from the dead, or something.

The new PDX Sucks is live every weekday at 9:30am on PDX.fm.

Update: The schedule has been announced. And read for more background on 30 Hour Day, read Shawn Levy’s Oregonian article: ’30 Hour Day’ brings the telethon into the digital age

30 Hour Day30 Hour Day returns:

Join Cami Kaos of Strange Love Live and Rick Turoczy of Silicon Florist for entertainment, interviews, and other interesting stuff. Thirsty hours of livestreamed content that you can use to raise money for any worthy cause.

Pioneer Courthouse Square is the venue this time. Watch it live on your web browser, starting at 4pm on Friday, July 2nd 2010.

Many sponsors and contributors have already stepped up, but they still need more. Take a gander at the benefits of sponsorship!

PDX.FM will be there: watch in awe as a few of your favorite (or not-so-favorite) PDX.FM personalities push the limits of endurance – and hopefully have some fun doing it – while helping make 30 Hour Day a reality this year. (Read about the cavalry-like PDX.FM crew here.)

Charities to benefit from this event include p:ear, Oregon Food Bank, and the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross.

June 17: qPDX’s Alley Hector and Perry Winkle visit Morning Submission

June 16, 2010 by Dave Knows Leave a Comment

qPDXqPDX‘s Alley Hector and Perry Eising (aka the lovely British/German accented Perry Winkle) will be guests on Morning Submission this Thursday, June 17th. Listen live on PDX.FM at 8am.

We’re in the midst of Pride Week 2010, so who better to talk to than the woman behind qPDX, Portland’s premier site for queer news, views and events.

Alley is looking forward to it:

I’m really hoping they’ll have one of their infamous drink tastings, seeing as surely I won’t have had enough the night before, nor will I have any the rest of the weekend. Drunk at only my 4th day of the new jobby. Sweet!

As for what we will be discussing, besides the incredibly ambiguous “Pride” is anybody’s guess. Their conversations usually consist of things like exploding cocks, neck brace organizers and bastardizing the English language.

And of course if you can’t listen live, find the recorded show a few hours after the broadcast at MorningSubmission.com and iTunes.

Portland Sucks is Dead, Long Live Morning Submission

May 10, 2010 by Dave Knows Leave a Comment

Update: First episode podcast is available (will be on iTunes soon), and Stumptown Magazine has a recap!

Morning SubmissionNew PDX.fm show Morning Submission takes over where Portland Sucks left off last Friday. It debuts Monday May 10th, at 8am!

The Meat Show and Unibash Radio have also been retired, but that frees up Emily Gibson and Jay Mackin, respectively, to join Robert Wagner and Sabrina Miller for the new two hour-ish morning show (leading up to Cort and Fatboy at 10am).
